Kor SUKSIS UniMAP Wins SUTRA 2019 Featured

PAUH PUTRA 24 Feb – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) SUKSIS Corps Contingent won SUTRA (SUKSIS Corps Sports Championship Northern Zone) 2019 which took place from 22 to 23 February.

UniMAP, as the present host of SUTRA won three gold, two silver and four bronze medals in 11 events.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) ACP (KS) Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan who is also the commander of UniMAP SUKSIS Corps said that UniMAP managed to win three gold medals through Men's and Women's Futsal and Women's Handball events.

“We managed to defeat our closest competitor, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which won three gold medals, one silver medal and six bronze medals.”

UniMAP earned silver medals through Men's Volleyball and Iron Men events," he said after the Closing Ceremony of SUTRA 2019 at Syed Sirajudin Areeb Putra Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, the adjutant of UniMAP SUKSIS Corps, Deputy Superintendent (KS) Mustaffa Ismail said that UniMAP SUKSIS Corps as the organizer and host this time had made a thorough preparation to welcome the contingent delegates from the public universities of Northern Malaysia.

He added that the preparations began five months ago to ensure the smooth operation of SUTRA 2019.

“We are delighted because UniMAP won the tournament despite having strong competition from other public universities," he said after the event.

SUTRA 2019 was officiated by the Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Dato' Prof Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal. The ceremony was attended by almost 700 athletes and SUKSIS Corps officials from UniMAP, USM, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Perlis, UiTM Kedah, UiTM Perak and UiTM Pulau Pinang.

During SUTRA 2019, the officials and coaches also had the opportunity to compete in woodball, an increasingly popular sports today.
